The Japanese princess Mako has given her fiancé, the commoner Kei Komuro, the word of consent. With that she loses her title of nobility.
Japan’s Princess Mako (30) has married her college love Kei Komuro (30). This is reported, among other things, by “BBC News”. Since her husband is a commoner, she lost her title of nobility with the marriage. The niece of the Japanese emperor Naruhito (61) had apparently refused a large ceremonial wedding, as well as a dowry.
Before the wedding, there had been negative media reports about the relationship. A financial scandal in which the mother of the 30-year-old lawyer is said to be involved had caused displeasure among the Japanese population. Due to the negative reports about her and her husband, Princess Mako is said to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Mako and her husband are now expected to move to the United States after the wedding, where Komuro works as a lawyer. The plans for the move to the USA brought the two “BBC News” according to the nickname “Japan’s Harry and Meghan”. British Prince Harry (37) and his wife, Duchess Meghan (40), moved to California in spring 2020.
Engaged for four years
Princess Mako, the daughter of Crown Prince Akishino (55), and Kei Komuro met while studying at a university in Tokyo. In 2017 they announced their engagement, but the wedding planned for 2018 was put on hold after the financial scandal became known.
