The royal calendar after the Danish summer vacation offers a big surprise: Princess Marie is back in Denmark – but she not only came to relax, she also has three appointments in her luggage.

Princess Marie, 45, causes a surprise in Denmark. She’s back and not just for a short vacation. Prince Joachim’s wife, 52, has big plans. There was no announcement beforehand. Their appointments were completely suddenly in the royal calendar. Marie and her family have now set up their center of life in the French capital Paris and the corona pandemic naturally thwarted some plans. “Princess Marie is surprised to be back in Denmark to work next week. It’s been a good year since she was there for an event,” wrote the Danish magazine “Billed Bladet”. Even when her stepson Prince Felix, 19, graduated from school in June, Marie did not accompany her husband to the celebrations in his home country.

Princess Marie: Return to her old apartment

Princess Marie will officially attend the opening concert of the new international classical music festival on August 13, 2021 in her former residence Schackenborg Castle in southern Denmark. She is the patron of the new Schackenborg Foundation, which bought the castle from Prince Joachim when he could no longer bear the financial burden. Queen Margrethe’s second eldest son, 81, and his family still have an apartment in the castle that they can use at any time.

On August 18 and 20, 2021, Princess Marie will be drawn to the capital. As the patron of Copenhagen Cooking, she will open the gastro festival and two days later she will be present at the autumn festival in Frederiksberg.

Clarifying conversation with Princess Mary and Prince Frederik?

It is unclear whether Marie is already in Denmark. Her husband has been at home since Friday (August 6, 2021) because he is taking part in the three-day Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix 2021 car race. It is unclear whether the couple will finally have the opportunity to meet Prince Frederik, 53, and Princess Mary, 49, again in a quiet private atmosphere.

It shouldn’t hurt. There seems to be some tension between the two brothers in particular. Prince Joachim recently complained in an interview with the Illu “Point de Vue” that the relationship between him and Frederik is now “more complicated” because his and Marie’s position in the royal family is not properly defined. A personal conversation could perhaps smooth things over a little.
