Princess Märtha Louise of Norway celebrated this year's Christmas with mixed feelings. Because while she could spend it on the one hand with her boyfriend Durek, it was also overshadowed by the death of her ex-husband Ari Behn.

It was an emotional holiday for Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, 49. December 25th marked the death of her ex-husband and the father of her three daughters Maud Angelica, 17, Leah Isadora, 15, and Emma Tallulah, 12 for the first time. Ari Behn († 47) took his own life on Christmas Day last year.

Emotional Christmas for Märtha Louise

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Märtha Louise shared a series of pictures from the holidays on her official Instagram profile. The first shows her and her friend, the shaman Durek Verrett, 46, in front of a lighted Christmas tree. After a long spatial separation – Durek was not allowed to travel from the USA to his loved one in Norway due to the corona regulations – he has now been with her in Lommedalen for several months and apparently also spent Christmas there.

The three other photos in her post show her three daughters, for whom the festival this year was particularly emotional. "These holidays were a little different than in previous years," writes Märtha Louise about the snapshots. Nevertheless, they managed to get into the festive mood. "One of the most important things that we as a family sadly discovered after Ari, the father of my wonderful children, committed suicide on Christmas Day a year ago, was love, joy, fun, and games on top of the unavoidable sadness, when you mourn. "

The 49-year-old philosophizes that balance is as important as breathing in and out. "Allow yourself to feel joy, have fun, enjoy, laugh, connect and love through the difficult times," the Norwegian tells her followers on the way. "Grief is both mentally and physically tiring and we all need non-guilty breaks to refill our tanks."

Encouraging words from Leah Isadora Behn

A few days earlier, Märtha Louise's daughter Leah Isadora had also sent encouraging words to people struggling with mental health problems on the social media platform. The past year was one of the toughest of her life. "It's okay to be sad, but you have to get up and remember who you are, who you want to be," were the heavy words of the 15-year-old.
