Princess Mary and Prince Frederik face renewed criticism. The crown prince couple is accused of a lack of “ethics and morals” in their private life.

Princess Mary, 50, and Prince Frederik, 54, have rarely faced as much criticism as they did in 2022. Their delayed response to the bullying scandal at Prince Christian’s, 16, school caused horror. The connection between the Danish royal family and the shoe company Ecco also caused deep cracks in the reputation of the crown prince couple.

Now the authenticity of Mary and Frederik is being questioned again. This time it’s about the couple’s private activities, which make the royal expert Jacob Heinel Jensen say harsh words.

Princess Mary doesn’t distance herself enough from Ecco

Because although the royal family has parted ways with the Danish shoe company Ecco, which continues to supply products to Russia, Princess Mary is still associated with them. The company will continue to be the main sponsor of the 2022 World Equestrian Games and Mary insisted on sitting in the audience at the Dressage World Championships and cheering her on.

An absolute no-go in the eyes of Jacob Heinel Jensen. Even if the 50-year-old was there as a private person, she always has to protect her image as a member of the royal family. “The Crown Prince and Princess forget their ethics and morals when it comes to riding and sailing: duty must prevail over private passions,” the BT correspondent said.

A similar picture would emerge with Prince Frederik’s greatest hobby, sailing. He and his wife recently wore wetsuits branded with the Rockwool company. This, too, continues to produce undeterred in Russia.

These happenings in the private life of the royals would undo their professional distance from the companies. “The question is, why on earth should it be so difficult to choose a consistent value policy that applies to both work and private life?” Heinel Jensen criticizes the couple. According to the journalist, Princess Mary and Prince Frederik should be aware that their role as royals extends to all other aspects of life.
