The Norwegian people have been worried about Princess Mette-Marit for several weeks. After her sick note, one appointment cancellation follows the next – as is the case again now. The court quietly and secretly canceled another engagement.

On September 14, 2023, the Court of Norway announced that Princess Mette-Marit, 50, is ill and is not attending any appointments for the time being. “Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is on sick leave from September 13th on the advice of her doctor. The Crown Princess is initially on sick leave for two weeks, but this period can be extended,” said the official statement. Two weeks have now passed, but the royal, who suffers from pulmonary fibrosis, has still disappeared from the scene. Having already celebrated King’s 50th anniversary on the throne Carl Gustaf77, had to skip out in Sweden, Mette-Marit’s appointments are now being canceled.

Princess Mette-Marit is not traveling to Denmark

Prince Christian will turn 18 on October 15, 2023. His grandmother invites people in his honor Queen Margrethe, 83, to a gala dinner where some European royals will also be present. After it became public that… Princess Victoria46, and Prince Daniel50, together with daughter Princess Estelle11, will arrive from Sweden, the Norwegian court also announced news: Prince Haakon50, will be with Princess Ingrid Alexandra19, celebrate the coming of age of the heir to the Danish throne.

“His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra are present at a gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen to mark the 18th birthday of His Royal Highness Prince Christian,” reads the program on the Norwegian royal family’s official website. Mette-Marit will therefore stay at home. Missing this milestone in her godson’s life is certainly not easy for her.

Hof cancels Mette-Marit’s only public appointment

But it’s not just the Danish birthday party that the Crown Princess has to miss out on. Just a few days ago, an appointment for Mette-Marit was noted in the royal family’s public calendar: On October 13th, the castle’s historic riding arena will be part of the “KunstStall”. Queen Sonya, 86, will be inaugurated. The Queen and… invite you to this occasion King Harald, 86, at the grand opening. Mette-Marit was actually supposed to appear at this appointment too. But now (as of October 4th) there is no longer a single public appearance listed in her calendar.

At the opening of the riding arena, the palace’s website still states that “both the royal couple and the crown prince couple will be present at the opening.” However, a look at Mette-Marit’s calendar suggests that the princess is still not feeling well again and is still taking it easy.
