The corona pandemic and the associated regulations are also severely affecting the Norwegian royals. In a podcast, Princess Mette-Marit tells how the months-long lockdown mainly affects her family and love life.

Princess Mette-Marit, 47, Prince Haakon, 47, and their two children, Ingrid Alexandra, 17, and Sverre Magnus, 15, live together on Skaugum in Asker. For almost a year now, the four of them have been crouching here on top of each other – which sometimes puts a strain on family peace. In the podcast "The Kåss Furuseths" on the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, the 47-year-old princess speaks openly about how the months of lockdown have changed her, her family and her love life with husband Haakon.

Princess Mette-Marit admits that it is difficult now and then

Although the four royals on Skaugum should have enough space to get out of their way from time to time, the months of standstill are increasingly bothering them too. "Like many others, some things get on my nerves. I think many have the feeling that their lives have somehow come to a standstill." Above all, she herself has been increasingly stressed and in a bad mood in the last few weeks, also towards her children. They were all the happier that Mette-Marit finally had to leave the house for the podcast recordings, she jokes. "They were just happy to finally have the obnoxious woman out of the house. I was so obnoxious the last day, so I think it was even good for them to have a break from me."

"I don't know if we're still flirting"

The love life with her husband Haakon was also affected by the lockdown, says Mette-Marit. "Well, one year after Corona, I don't really know whether we're still as flirty as a year ago," she explains with a laugh. But the two seem to have found their way to maintain the romance despite everyday corona. "Haakon is such a fine person. He's really very good when it comes to romance …" enthuses the princess and even blushes a bit.
