In 2023, things were different for Catherine in terms of fashion: instead of coat dresses and feminine lace, the Princess of Wales is increasingly relying on business suits and jeans. And yet Kate is spending more on new clothes than ever before. These were her most expensive looks.

It is said that your personal style changes every seven years. At Catherine, For Princess of Wales, 41, 2023 seems to have been one such year. The wife of Prince William, 41, is breaking new ground in terms of fashion and, especially in the second half of the year, increasingly appears in all kinds of trouser suits and pretty jeans combinations. Was the mother of three’s fashion fireworks last year a little more subdued than before? Probably. Was that why it was cheaper? No. Because despite lots of trouser suits and jeans blazer styles, the self-confessed recycler queen is having a lavish shopping year.

The clothes that were added to the Princess of Wales’ wardrobe last year are said to have cost 162,000 pounds. More than ever before! Only in 2022 did Catherine spend more on her wardrobe – as long as she always bought the pieces from her at the original price. And that’s only an estimated 15,000 pounds, which should only amount to three to four outfits in royal wardrobes. But where does Kate place her major expenses? So much in advance: The money didn’t end up in the power suit department of Alexander McQueen and Holland Cooper. We’ve rounded up her three most expensive looks of the year.

For her new job as Colonel of the Irish Guard, Kate lets it rip on St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day in 2023 is a very special occasion for Catherine. Since December 2022, the mother of three has held the honorary title of Colonel of the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards. In honor of this, the 41-year-old appeared on March 17 in a custom-made blue and green Catherine Walker dress that cost around 3,000 British pounds. The sweet homage that adorns this cannot be overlooked: two rows of four buttons each adorn her coat dress, just like the uniform of the Irish Guards. The Jane Taylor hat, which has the same color as the feather in the bearskin cap of the officers in Aldershot, was also made especially for this appearance. The cost is around 1,500 pounds. Add to that new pumps and a new clutch from Emmy London, so Catherine’s entire outfit comes in at around £5,500.

Almost as expensive as a real crown: Catherine shines at Charles’ coronation with a 32,000-pound headband

Will she wear a tiara or not? Shortly before Charles’ coronation, this question interested the royal fan community at least as much as the king himself. Kate ultimately doesn’t wear a tiara on this special day, but she still puts on a princess appearance. The reason for the association: a hair band. The extravagant piece by Jess Collett and Alexander McQueen, consisting of three-dimensional leaf embroidery made of silver bars, crystal and silver thread, sits like a real tiara on the head of the future queen.

The opulent look has its price; the hand-embroidered headband is said to have cost the mother of three around £32,000. 3,200 pounds are added for the sewn-in jacket of her white Alexander McQueen gown. New pumps from Gianvito Rossi round off the Princess of Wales’ most expensive look in 2023.

In Elie Saab it becomes a breathtaking eye-catcher

The 41-year-old definitely did not disappoint as a wedding guest last year. For the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al-Saif, the Princess of Wales wore a powder-colored, high-necked dress by Elie Saab with delicate floral embroidery, which she combined with statement earrings and a gold clutch. The designer dress from the Lebanese fashion designer’s 2017 fall/winter collection not only perfectly meets the “white tie” dress code – the most formal of all – but is also one of the most expensive pieces in Kate’s wardrobe. According to experts, the runway piece, which was customized for the Muslim wedding, is worth a whopping £7,300 in her wardrobe. Wow!
