In a few days, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and other members of the Royal Family will be taking part in King Charles’ birthday parade. However, she skips a special part of “Trooping the Color” – for this reason.

“Trooping the Color” has been celebrating the official birthday of the reigning British monarch for over 260 years. For the past 70 years, the birthday parade has been held in honor of Queen Elizabeth, † 96. On Saturday, June 17, 2023, King Charles, 74, will be celebrated for the first time. As usual, senior members of the British royal family will attend the special event. Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, will also be present – but she is foregoing an important tradition.

Buckingham Palace has already announced that Charles will be taking part in Trooping the Color on horseback. It will be the first time in 37 years that a regent has taken part in the parade on horseback. Queen Elizabeth rode in a carriage from 1987 after her favorite horse – black mare Burmese – retired. Prince William, 40, will also accompany his father on a horse. The heir to the throne already held a practice parade a few days ago.

As Catherine was made Colonel in the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards in December last year, one would expect her to mount as well. But as “Daily Mail” now reports, the 41-year-old will do without it and instead drive in a carriage to Horse Guards Parade. She will also not wear a military uniform, it is said. The same applies to Queen Camilla, 75. King Charles’ wife was appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, replacing Prince Andrew. But she, too, will probably leave the uniform in the closet and put it on a horse-drawn carriage.
