Prison sentence – drunken riot in front of the children

The defendant wanted to pull a wine bottle over the head of a waiter – in the presence of his two offspring. The matter had legal repercussions on Friday.

There are terrible scenes that took place in an inn in Feldkirch in May. After a real marathon of drinking, the defendant (35) hits a bar in Feldkirch that evening, his two children, five and six years old, in tow. When the waiter expels the guest, who was only wearing pants, from the restaurant because of the inappropriate adjustments, the situation escalates: “You shitty Turk. Get out of here!”, the swallowing woodpecker insults the Turkish-born employee. It’s getting uncomfortable. Despite the reprimand, the riotous man doesn’t leave the restaurant, which is difficult in his condition. His only support at this moment is an oak table, which he clings to. After the waiter finally catches the uninvited guest stealing a salt and pepper shaker, things get really uncomfortable. “I warned him to put the things back. Then he tried to pull a wine bottle over my head. But I was able to block the blow with my arm,” says the attacker, describing the incident. Particularly tragic: the two children have to watch this terrible misery. “When he wanted to hit me, the children screamed: Dad, please don’t!” A work colleague confirmed the waiter’s statements: “The man was aggressive and loud – you don’t see something like that every day.” And even when the police intervened, it showed the rager is not very cooperative. After he also attacked the officers, the handcuffs clicked. More than three per mille of alcohol in his blood. In the trial on Friday, the man claimed that he didn’t remember anything. “But when the police told me everything, I pulled the ripcord and immediately went to inpatient therapy to get my alcohol addiction under control. “It will last until mid-November,” says the swallowing woodpecker, showing his willingness to get back on track. What public prosecutor Philipp Höfle noted benevolently: “You had more than three per mille ingestion. This is not the world for an alcoholic. But it makes me positive that you have reflected on your alcohol problem and that you have gone to therapy.” The presiding judge of the jury senate, Lisa Pfeifer, agrees with this. The final verdict: six months in prison on probation, a fine of 960 euros and a “All the best to you” from the Senate.
