Prix d’Amérique 2022: double title holder and big favorite, Face Time Bourbon withdraws

It’s a huge clap of thunder. Five days before the prestigious Prix d’Amérique, Face Time Bourbon, double title holder and presented as the big favorite for the 2022 edition scheduled for Sunday, has withdrawn due to a foot problem.

The terrible news fell, this Tuesday, at the beginning of the afternoon. In a video posted on social networks, Antonio Somma, owner of the crack, and trainer Sébastien Guarato announced that the horse, considered the best trotter in the world, will not be at the start of the legendary event in Vincennes.

“He is a horse born navicular (lameness syndrome in horses, editor’s note) and his problem has gotten a little worse,” explained Sébastien Guarato. And to add that his injury is “more serious than a fracture”.

The continuation of the career of Face Time Bourbon is also strongly compromised. It could even end abruptly. “At 90%, I think it’s over,” said Sébastien Guarato on Equidia.

With the unexpected package of his main favorite, the cards are completely redistributed. And if Davidson du Pont, second of the last two editions, and Hohneck, who remains on three successes, are presented as the new favorites, the race for victory promises to be particularly open on the Hippodrome de Vincennes.
