Probation Service – Volunteers work on behalf of the judiciary

Volunteering is a pillar of society. This is also the case with the new start, as the association emerged in 1957 from voluntary work. This can still be seen today, as 33 percent of all probation service clients look after volunteers. In Burgenland, 25 of these probation officers work on behalf of the judiciary. Monika Mehlmauer and Michaela Lenzinger, both of whom have been with the Jennersdorf team for twelve years, are two of them. “This field of activity piqued my curiosity. That was the motivation to take part and get to know the clients’ worlds, ”Mehlmauer explains her motivation. “Meeting the right people in the right place made me want to work for this cause,” says Lenzinger.
