Problem with Skyguide – Swiss airspace blocked: Zurich and Geneva airports paralyzed – News

  • There are currently no take-offs and landings at Zurich and Geneva airports.
  • The reason for this is a technical fault at the Swiss air traffic control Skyguide.
  • It is not known at this time how long the disruption will last.

Skyguide announced that Swiss airspace had therefore been closed to traffic for safety reasons. This airspace closure applies until further notice.

Overflights are also currently not possible. Aircraft that are on their way to Switzerland now have to switch to airports abroad. According to the Portal Flight Radar, for example, the Swiss flight from Dubai landed at Milan airport this morning, as did the flight from Johannesburg.

Zurich Airport is open, said a spokeswoman on request. Check-in is running, but boarding has been stopped.

An unusual sight: not a single plane can currently be seen over Dübendorf.

Geneva Airport writes on Twitter that there are no take-offs or landings until 11 a.m.

Skyguide regrets the incident and, according to the announcement, is working “at full speed” on a solution. It is unclear how many flights are affected.
