Prodige: A.bsolument joins forces with Focal for their first Bluetooth speaker

A.bsolument is a French brand that usually recovers old vintage radios to refurbish them and offer them connectivity in the era of time. She announces the release of Prodige, her first Bluetooth speaker entirely designed by her.

The Prodige adopts a very refined design composed of a recycled aluminum case, surrounded by two wooden panels from the French eco-managed forest. Its deliberately austere look is designed to look like old Braun and Philips sets from the 1960s, which is sure to elicit some nostalgic hints to the wisest among us. The block of 29 x 20 x 19.5 cm still weighs a whopping 4.65 kg.

The box contains a stereo architecture composed of a bass/midrange driver delivering 60 W of power, and two 15 W TAM tweeters developed by Focal, which can also be found on the Vestia loudspeaker range of the French manufacturer. AcousticRoom technology allows the Prodige to adapt the sound reproduction to the configuration of the listening room. However, no details on the operation of this technology have been explained.

The Prodige has Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity compatible with SBC, AAC and aptX-HD codecs. It also has a mini-jack input and a USB-A port to charge an external device. One of the buttons placed on the top is dedicated to the bass adjustment. The addition of wifi connectivity, however, would have greatly helped to justify the high asking price, set at €690. La Prodige will be available for sale from March 15, 2023.
