Because the topic boiled up again recently, producer Barbara Broccoli makes it clear once again: There will be no female James Bond.

Shortly before the release of the new James Bond film “No Time to Die” (September 30th), another discussion broke out about whether a woman could take the vacant position of Daniel Craig (53). The actor himself thinks little of this idea and “Bond” producer Barbara Broccoli (61) has now reiterated that there will be no female version of James Bond as long as she is in charge. “James Bond is a male character. I hope there will be many, many films with women, for women, by women and about women,” as quoted by “Daily Mail” from an interview. The “Bond” series do not see them as such.

The search for a successor is in no hurry

This seems to have finally clarified that Craig’s successor will also be a man. Broccoli still wants to take its time with the answer to the question of who exactly will replace him as 007. Only next year will she sit down with her half-brother and producer colleague Michael G. Wilson to hire a new Bond. She justifies this with the words: “We want to pay tribute to the great tenure of Daniel Craig, who has done everything for this figure in the series for 15 years.”

Daniel Craig had taken over the part of Pierce Brosnan (68) and slipped into the role of the double-zero agent for the first time in 2006 in “Casino Royale”. With “A Quantum of Solace” (2008), “Skyfall” (2012) and “Specter” (2015) three more appearances followed. After “No Time to Die” by the American director Cary Fukunaga (44), he is retiring in 007.
