In "ZDFzeit: Corona – Endless Pandemic?" Virologist Hendrik Streeck shows the audience the mysterious and dangerous world of viruses.

The corona pandemic shows that a until recently unknown virus can suddenly and unexpectedly become a global threat to people's health, freedom and prosperity. In the documentary "ZDFzeit: Corona – Endless Pandemic?" (16.3., 8:15 p.m., ZDF) the virologist Hendrik Streeck (born 1977) presents facts from the mysterious and dangerous world of viruses.

Hendrik Streeck has been Professor of Virology and Director of the Institute for Virology and HIV Research at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bonn since 2019. As director of the institute, he succeeded Professor Christian Drosten (48), today professor and institute director at the Charité in Berlin.

What can viewers expect in the documentary?

In the documentary, Prof. Streeck summarizes what is now known about the coronavirus and its spread. But it also explains the other dangers posed by viruses and how we humans can protect ourselves against upcoming pandemics.

In order to better understand all of this, the documentary also looks back on striking and research-relevant Corona events such as the carnival meeting in the Heinsberg district in January 2020. Participants will have their say, and a previously unpublished original video from the hall will also be shown. The documentation also exclusively provides first insights into the ongoing follow-up study "Heinsberg 2", which among other things deals with the question of the immunity of the sick …
