Your manicure just doesn't want to be like you? We have a few ultimate professional nail polish tricks that will definitely change your routine.
We've all failed at manicures. Regardless of the shape, color or care. To put an end to the horror, we asked Leonie Eicher, Nail Stylist and Brand Ambassador from NeoNail, which professional tips could completely change our routine.
Wrong preparation
If you want to do your nails at home, then you shouldn't do it between the door and hinge or just before bed. Leonie advises that we take enough time and do each nail individually – whether with normal nail polish, UV varnish, etc.
Another thing that can be done nicely is to degrease the nail beforehand. It is best to make sure that nothing is left on or on the nails.
Filing – but right
The shape of the nails is sure to freak out some of us. Somehow the result never looks the same. Who knows ?! Leonie advises us:
You are welcome to turn your hand and look at the nails from all perspectives. I do the same with my customers. So you can correct quite well.
According to Leonie, we should treat the natural nail like a raw egg. Means: Do not scrub it with the nail file or even file the nail from above (this is only done with UV varnish, e.g. NeoNail). "I would only file the natural nail in one direction, you always meet with the file in the middle, so they don't split off," explains Leonie.
The part that everyone forgets
By the way, there is one part of manicures that is all too often forgotten – the free edge of the nail. Most of the people paint the nail on the surface, but forget that they have to "seal" the front edge. "I would always coat the front edge of the nail so that there is enough material here. Then it will hold up much better."
Nail oil is key
Last but not least: take care of your nails! Seriously. Because that can make a huge difference to the durability of your manicure.
I am an absolute believer in nail oil. Not just from above, but also from below. The nails need a lot of care so that they don't splinter. And if that happens, of course the nail polish won't either.
Very important: Oil first, then cream. "Many people believe that if you put some lotion on your hands, everything is done," says Leonie. But that's not true. She advises us to use nail oil every day – preferably in the evening before going to bed so that it can be absorbed overnight.
