“Professionally rebuilt” – car workshop maintained fleet of tractor gang

A car workshop has professionally converted 60 to 70 cars for a gang of traffickers so that “overloading” is not so noticeable. Air springs were installed on the rear axle and windows were darkened. You should have earned something extra. This means imprisonment for the owners of the workshop – not legally binding!

What do you do when your own car repair shop doesn’t really get going because the loan isn’t enough for a second lifting platform? Definitely not what a 37-year-old from Vienna and a 31-year-old from Romania did. They specialized in car conversions – for tractor vehicles. And ended up in court in Eisenstadt as members of a criminal organisation! Air springs installed and windows darkened, namely the one from which 18 people from the “lower level” – i.e. drivers – and a team leader had already been sentenced to prison terms, some of them several years. And this team leader chatted. Described that air springs were installed in the workshop in Burgenland to relieve the rear axle in order to hide the “state of complete overload”. Windows were darkened between the driver’s cab and the loading area of most of the small vans. And according to the indictment, they were responsible for the general maintenance of the tractor fleet. The lawyers Rudolf Mayer and Peter Philipp agree: “A rare case of otherwise properly working car workshops.”
