The ARD decided at short notice to broadcast the ESC preliminary decision in the main program. Originally, only a parallel transmission of the event in the third programs and on One was planned. Now the event is running simultaneously on all channels mentioned.

At the same time, the ESC preliminary decision is also postponed by 45 minutes to 9 p.m. The charity campaign “WE HELP – Together for Ukraine” will take over the prime-time slot at 8:15 p.m. According to ARD, the show “Germany 12 Points – the German ESC preliminary decision” should then continue the idea of European unity, for example by reminding that Kyiv hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and 2017.
Ukrainian ESC winner Jamala performs
In addition, the Ukrainian ESC winner from 2016, Jamala, appears as another star guest at “Germany 12 Points – the German ESC preliminary decision” and will sing her winning song there, “1944”. The song is about the deportation of the Crimean Tatars by Josef Stalin.

Ingo Zamperoni will moderate the charity campaign “WE HELP – Together for Ukraine” at 8:15 p.m. live from Cologne. Then Barbara Schöneberger takes over at “Germany 12 Points – the German ESC preliminary decision”.
