Project L reveals details about its gameplay

We have known for some time, three years now, that Riot Games is working on a competitive fighting game, like the recent MultiVersus. So little information has been revealed since 2019, the studio to which we owe League of Legends, and for two years VALORANT, tells us more during explanatory videos, very often spreading out on a specific subject, with the aim of make us discover step by step this famous Project L.

Naturally, all of the following information is not final and may change, but lately Tom Cannon, Executive Producer, and Shaun Rivera, Game Director, discussed the gameplay and the tactical side in particular. The games seem to be played only in 2v2, mainly because several features will add technique and control. For example, even if your character is not in the center of the screen, it will be possible to perform an assistance action. But if the two champions are on the screen, then it will be possible to switch from one to the other to increase the power of the combos, or to move one of the combatants away from danger.

To counter these possible overpowering attacks, a mechanism will break enemy combos, while pushing your opponent away from you, but again, this combo counter can be anticipated and parried.

Finally, as we already knew for a few months, and the last presentation, Illaoi will be part of the playable characters. We also see her in a new arena, taking place in Ionia. To learn more about Project L, you will have to wait a few months. Riot Games should tell us more by the end of spring, while Project L will be free-to-play and could be released late next year.
