Project L, Riot’s fighting game, will be free-to-play and features a character

Announced when it was only at the beginning of its development, Project L, which does not yet have a final name, at least officially, had not yet shown in 2022. To give some news, Riot Games shared a video of its fighting game, with the aim of providing us with some crisp details while specifying that the work was progressing well, since the developers are now looking at the design of the characters, among other things.

A new character revealed

As we know it, Project L will host many League of Legends champions, but Riot wants to select them carefully, so that every player can enjoy characters that are easy to master while still being relevant to gameplay. This is how the choice was made on Illaoi, with the objective of transcribing its LoL characteristics in Project L, with some innovations. For the moment, Riot plans to make the fighter a slow, but powerful character, always on the move and able to attack at any time.

The other important information to take away from this communication is the fact that Project L will, as expected, be available in free-to-play. All the studio’s major games are actually offered for free (LoL, TFT, VALORANT) and this will still be the case for the Street Fighter-style fighting game.

Riot clarifies that we are still far from its release, which will not take place before 2023, in the best of the cases, and that new information, in particular on the visual effects, will be shared later in the year. Knowing that the studio wishes to give information approximately every six months, the next meeting should be at the end of 2022, or at the beginning of 2023.
