Project Q: You Can Forget It, Ubisoft’s Arena Fighting Game Is Canceled

A few days ago, Ubisoft announced a change in its strategy for the coming years to focus on its biggest franchises. Three projects, a priori based on new licenses, have thus been cancelled, while Skull and Bones has been postponed again. We didn’t know which titles had their development stopped, but good news, Beyond Good & Evil 2 was not in the lot.

On the other hand, It seems like Project Q has he been stopped. This team-based arena fighting game was made official last year, when the publisher tested its concept in a private test phase of which gameplay had leaked. Insider Gaming says in fact that his sources told him that the development had been stopped, without being able to confirm if the cancellation was part of the three pronounced last week, or on the contrary should be added to the trio. The news would have been given on the group Discord testerswith the following message:

Hey @everyone,

We hope you are all well and safe. We want to start by saying how amazing this group has been since our debut. We have shared so many great moments and we cherish the relationships we have built with all of you. We have been through so many amazing times together that will live on in our memory.

The first closed test was a big milestone for us because of all the hard work the team put in, your amazing support, and your great hospitality! We loved the amazing energy on this Discord, it was our fuel for the project. Your feedback has been a real gift and allowed us to grow as developers to do our best for you, our players.

All of these warm moments make this announcement harder to make: unfortunately, we have to cancel our upcoming closed tests as Project Q will no longer continue development. It also means that we will have to stop this Discord server.

We don’t have any further information to share at this time, but we would like to thank you all for your passion and love for Project Q. All of your messages and support have meant a lot to us and been a boost important for our teams from the beginning.

We will shut down this Discord server in the coming days. But until then, share your most memorable memories and moments with us and we’ll gladly pass the messages on to the team. It was an incredible adventure for us, and we will always have fond memories of it. We wish you the best for the future.

Our warmest regards,
The Project Q development team

History does not yet say whether Project Ua shooting game PvE spotted last year, was also cancelled.

We can confirm that we will no longer support the development of Project Q in order to focus on priority projects, to which our teams are reassigned.

Update : Ubisoft confirmed to Eurogamer that he had canceled Project Q to concentrate on other productions.
