Promise to Saalbach – ex-prisoner Kuljic will soon be playing in the lower house

The former ÖFB team kicker Sanel Kuljic will soon play for Saalbach, a club from the 1st Class South. The previous crimes are history, the 45-year-old wants to “help the club”.

Crazy transfer news in the Salzburg lower house! Twenty-time Austrian national player Sanel Kuljic is joining Saalbach-Hinterglemm. “I am often nearby on business and was then asked by the board whether I could imagine playing for them,” the 45-year-old told the “Krone”. “It’s often not easy for me when it comes to time, but when I have time, I like to play.” During his professional career, Kuljic was one of the most dangerous strikers in Austria and was once the top scorer in the Bundesliga. However, he became known to the general public primarily because of a major betting scandal. Together with Dominique Taboga and other suspects, he manipulated a total of 18 games. Convicted as the main perpetrator, he received a five-year prison sentence in October 2014. After Kuljic was released early for good behavior, he had to go to prison for another year in 2019 for drug trafficking. “It’s all history to me. “I was punished for my actions,” the former team player looks ahead. People in Saalbach are happy about the prominent new addition. “Even if Sanel only helps out every now and then, he will be good for our game,” says section leader Helmut Kurej. After a start to the season with seven defeats from seven games and only three goals scored, the Pinzgauers could really use a man who knows where the goal is. Runs await before debut But he doesn’t yet know whether Kuljic will actually play as an attacker. He could be on the field for the first time in two weeks at the earliest. “I’ll definitely have to do one or two runs before that,” he grins. His primary goal: “I want to help the club with my experience and teach the boys a few things.”
