How the pricing table works
The arrival of a newborn baby can be a source of many concerns, but increasingly sophisticated products are now available to support young parents. The Taiwanese start-up Cubo Ai has made it its specialty, and has just completed its offer with the Sleep Sensor Pad – or Sleep Detection Pad in French. This accessory works in conjunction with the company’s Smart Babyphone to provide increased monitoring of baby’s sleep without disturbing him.
A carpet to slip under the mattress to detect respiratory disorders
Indeed, the Sleep Sensor Pad is a discreet solution. This is a small mat to simply slip under the baby mattress. No element is therefore in direct contact with it; the thickness of the mattress must however be between 6 and 13 cm for optimal operation.
To monitor sleep, the device relies on a set of four sensors capable of detecting up to “micromovements” on the surface of the mattress and analyzes them to extract data on the infant’s breathing. The system is therefore reminiscent of the Withings Sleep Monitor, for example, with the difference that it is optimized for babies : Cubo Ai claims that its Sleep Sensor Pad covers the entire surface of a crib mattress.
In the event of an anomaly, the mat can send a signal to the Smart Baby Monitor. This then takes care of assessing the seriousness of the situation thanks to its 1080p camera with night vision and its artificial intelligence.
In particular, Cubo Ai’s baby monitor has been trained to react when the baby’s mouth or nose is covered by an object that would prevent him from breathing properly. Also sensitive to crying, Cubo Ai is able to read the temperature and humidity of the room or even play lullabies, and can alert the user on his smartphone in the event of a proven risk thanks to his wifi connection. It is also Bluetooth compatible, which allows it to communicate with the Sleep Sensor Pad. Note that the latter cannot work alone.
It is also possible to buy the Sleep Sensor Pad with the Smart Babyphone within the Sleep Security Set launched at €419. Alone, the Sleep Sensor Pad is billed at €129, to which must therefore be added the price of the baby monitor for those who do not have it yet, either €209 or €299 depending on the media desired. Overall high prices.
Remember that there are surveillance cameras capable of detecting not only the movements, but also the crying of babies for less than 50 €, such as the 2K Pan & Tilt Camera from Eufy. A solution that is certainly less complete, but which many parents will probably prefer to be content with.
