The investigators suspect a couple from the Bad Kissingen district. A police spokesman said that the 36-year-old man and his wife, who was two years younger than him, were also in focus.
On Wednesday, police searched three apartments in Bad Bocklet, Bad Kissingen and Oberthulba. Cell phones and data media were confiscated. However, the suspects are still at large. On January 6, an ICE from Schweinfurt had passed through a tarpaulin stretched by wooden slats on the railway line. The engine driver initiated an emergency braking on the high-speed line. Nobody got hurt. The railcar was slightly damaged. Police later found more posters along the railway line between Waigolshausen and Gemünden, also with wooden slats, and removed them.
Witness brings investigators on the trail

After a witness lead, the officers then focused on the couple and their surroundings. According to the police spokesman, it is unlikely that only two people put up all the tarpaulins alone.
