It’s been a turbulent few weeks for the French club Paris St. Germain. Sporty things are not going well, after his trip to Saudi Arabia superstar Lionel Messi is also on the verge of retirement. The fans express their displeasure – and also exaggerate it. PSG reacts.

French football club Paris St. Germain has condemned its own fans who gathered in front of the home of Brazilian superstar Neymar on Wednesday evening. Videos on social media show a group of at least 50 people shouting “Neymar, get out!” chanted. “Notwithstanding the differences of opinion, nothing justifies such actions. The club fully supports its players, its staff and anyone affected by this shameful behaviour,” informed PSG and spoke of “intolerable and insulting acts”.

The French capital club is currently experiencing turbulent weeks. After losing the Champions League round of 16 against FC Bayern and the cup, the expensive star ensemble is left with only the French Ligue 1. There, the lead over pursuers Olympique Marseille melted from ten to five points. There are still five games to play. There is also plenty of potential for conflict off the pitch: according to media reports, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi was recently suspended after an illegal trip to Saudi Arabia. His contract, which expires in the summer, is apparently not to be extended.

Meanwhile, PSG fans not only gathered in front of superstar Neymar’s house, around 400 supporters also gathered in front of the office in Paris, as several media reports. An Ultra group is said to have previously called for a “peaceful meeting”. There, PSG fans vented their anger about the latest developments and the sporting situation. Show videos on social media, singing diatribes about Messi, Neymar and Italian Marco Verratti. In addition, President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have been asked to resign.
