Proton announces the launch of a desktop application for its email client, available on Windows and macOS. The latter includes many features that establish it as a very serious competitor in the field. In particular, it will be possible to consult emails without being connected to the Internet and benefit from end-to-end encryption.
After its rapid launch in 2024, following the resounding success of its crowdfunding campaign, the Proton suite continues to shake up the big names in the sector, one innovation after another. For some time now, the firm has been working to break away from the web straitjacket to offer applications for all its services. At the end of 2022, Proton Drive will arrive on Android and iOS, before being available on macOS for a few days.
And the rest does not intend to stop there. In a press release, the firm announces the launch of a desktop application for its Proton Mail service. The desktop app, compatible with Windows and macOS, is available today in beta for Visionary users. They can thus discover the armada of features that make Proton Mail a serious competitor in the sector.

The Proton Mail desktop application can thus be tagged with offering offline access to your emails, without the need for an Internet connection to update your inbox. Of course, Proton continues to emphasize security and privacy, providing end-to-end encryption for all messages received and sent. In addition, the desktop application has an automatic transfer functionality which also ensures this encryption.
In this way, Proton promises greater fluidity in work between collaborators by avoiding manually reconfiguring each recipient of a message while ensuring the private nature of a conversation. Additionally, the app also offers a Snooze option, which allows you to temporarily mute notifications when you need them. Finally, Proton Mail also offers optimized integration of the other software in the suite, Proton Calendar and Proton Drive.
