Good news for all fans of the Proton suite, since Proton Pass is equipped with a sharing function that is as welcome as it is expected.
You (may) already know Proton Pass, this password manager that is both encrypted and open source, which allows you to generate and store secure passwords.
The software also acts as an identity manager, which generates unique email address aliases. This way, the user’s real email address is not used to track their activities.

Proton Pass also in sharing mode
Today, this same Proton Pass is equipped with a new functionality aimed at allowing the sharing of passwords, without obviously ignoring the secure aspect. The principle is simple, namely to create safes that can be consulted by a predefined contact list.
So practical for exchanging passwords with family, a group of friends and/or a work circle. “ Too often people share their passwords using insecure methods, such as Gmail. Although you share your passwords much more securely with Proton Mail’s encrypted email service, it is inconvenient to have to resend the information if you change your password », Explains the Swiss company.
Safes to share with your contacts
Sharing signed by Proton Pass is not limited to passwords alone and also allows you to exchange more sensitive information such as bank cards or notes.
Users are welcome to share their passwords with anyone, including those who do not have a Proton Pass account. When receiving the invitation, the recipient will be able to create a new account and access the shared vault with just a few clicks.
On the price side, subscribers who have a subscription (at 4.99 euros per month) can share up to 20 safes with a total of 9 people. Those using the free version are limited to just one vault and two contacts. The functionality still suffers from some translation issues regarding the French version.
