Sony will overhaul the PS Plus subscription service in June. A studio has now revealed that fans can look forward to a popular feature that has been kept secret until now with the newly integrated PS1 & PS2 classics.
Sony’s new PS Plus service will have three different tiers – Essential, Extra and Premium. If you choose PS Plus Premium, you get access to one large library of classic games from the PS1 & PS2 era. Now developer Bend Studio has revealed that players on the PS4 & PS5 can unlock trophies in the retro games.
PS Plus: Trophy feature available for retro games
A tweet from developer Bend Studio – known for working on Days Gone – has PlayStation fans at one hope for extensive trophy hunting in the PS Plus Premium retro games. The studio announced on Twitter that PS4 & PS5 players could earn trophies in Siphon Filter. The game was originally released for the PS1 and is part of the PS Plus Premium subscribers’ Retro Games offering.
Sony hadn’t said a word about whether or not the retro games should have trophies like modern games. While Bend Studios’ tweet doesn’t reveal, whether added trophies to all PS1 & PS2 games it at least proves that selected games can use the feature.
Can Sony compete with Game Pass with PS Plus?
Xbox’ subscription service Game Pass has repeatedly dominated the headlines in recent months and with its growing game library and day-one releases attract many gamers. Sony is now trying to counteract this with the restructured 3-stage PS Plus model. With the huge selection of retro games, PlayStation definitely has a powerful argument on its side and the popular trophy feature will certainly be welcomed by many players.
