At the moment, you may not be able to renew your PS Plus or PS Now subscriptions – at least not if you want to stack the subscription.
Sony is currently converting the PS Plus model and wants from that June 22 introduce three subscription levels across Europe: Essential, extra and Premium. We explain in more detail how much the models will cost and what you can expect from them.
In the course of the conversion, Sony now demonstrably has this Prevented stacking of PS Plus and PS Now subscriptions. Most likely it is only one temporary measurewhich is intended to prevent PS Now users from stacking up several years of subscription in order to save.
No more stacking of PS Plus subscriptions – hopefully only temporarily?
At this time, you cannot redeem PS Plus pre-paid cards to stack your subscription or renew your PS Plus or PS Now subscription online while you still have a subscription. So while your PlayStation subscription is running, you can’t renew it right now. According to users and online retailers, the whole thing is probably related to the upcoming changeover to the PS Plus model (source: PushSquare).
The likely reason: The coming PS Plus Subscription Premium will combine PS Now and PS Plus. Those who currently have both subscriptions will automatically receive a premium subscription based on the duration of the longer subscription starting June 22nd. After this announcement, frugal users probably started accumulating PS Now subscriptions in order to get a particularly long premium subscription at the price of the current PS Now.
In a support email to a user, a Sony employee finally said and confirmed that the extensions were deactivated – but only for a certain period of time (source: PushSquare). Sony itself has not yet officially commented on any of this.
It’s very likely that subscription stacking will be back to normal on June 22nd, but exactly how the stacking system will work with the new model hasn’t been officially announced yet.
