PS3 UPDATE: firmware 4.91 is available

No, you are not dreaming, it is neither the current PS5 nor this already very old PS4 that are talking about them, but indeed that good old PlayStation 3. The console launched in 2006-2007 and which has no longer been produced since 2016-17 therefore received a new update to its system software this Tuesday. The latest one, 4.90, dates back to February 28, 2023, as if Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to release one each year.

As to changelog of this patch 4.91, it does not differ from the usual speech saying that the goal is to improve the performance of the PS3.

Version 4.91

  • This system software update improves system performance.

At least you know that you’ll eventually need to update your console if you plug it back in, even if it’s far from necessary to play the offline productions of the time.

The PlayStation 5 Slim is sold for €549.00 on Amazon and €549.99 to the Fnac.
