In parallel with the arrival of the big update 7.00 of the PS5, Sony Interactive Entertainment also deployed a update for its previous home console, the PS4. The previous one, numbered 10.01, still dates back to last September, so it’s an event in itself. THE firmware 10.50 of the day isn’t really revolutionary, but it does bring some welcome changes.

Version 10.50
- You can now access your allowed apps in Settings.
- Authorized apps are third-party apps and services with which you have linked your account for PlayStation Network. When you use an authorized application, you authorize the sharing of your account data with this application.
- To view and manage your authorized apps, go to Settings > Account Management > Authorized Apps, then scan the QR code with your mobile device.
- Friends active on the PlayStation App will now appear as online in your friends list.
- It is now possible to display Unicode 15.0 emojis.
- You can see which players in your game session are using other platforms for games that support this feature.

How to update your console?
- By connecting his PlayStation 4 to the internet.
- Via a USB storage medium:
- Create a “PS4” folder on your USB media. In this folder, create an “UPDATE” subfolder.
- Download the update file and save it in the “UPDATE” subfolder. Save the file as “PS4UPDATE.PUP”.
- Turn off the PS4 system completely. Check that the power indicator is not on. If the power indicator is lit orange, touch the power button on the PS4 system for at least 7 seconds, until the system beeps a second time.
- Connect the USB storage medium containing the update file to your PS4 system, then touch the power key for at least 7 seconds. The PS4 system starts in Safe Mode.
- Select [Mettre à jour le logiciel système]. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process.
