Hideo Kojima has definitely been the center of attention in recent weeks. Some time ago, many rumors had suggested a potential takeover of Kojima studios by the giant Sony, which the director had then denied. In question, the presence of Death Stranding on a promotional banner for PlayStation games. Hideo Kojima had indicated that this was only a collaboration, that he was delighted to work with the Japanese company but that his studios would remain independent.
So we thought we were done with the Kojima and PlayStation rumors. Until, on April 24, Hideo posted a photo on Twitter, which relaunched the infernal gossip machine. The director is reportedly working on a big project with Sony.
PlayStation x Kojima, the return?
After having worked in collaboration with PlayStation for Death Stranding, it may well be that Hideo Kojima puts the cover back. The lynx eyes of his community have indeed noticed a key detail in a photo posted on Twitter.
Don’t you notice? Look again! In the right corner of the photo, on a TV cabinet, we notice a very revealing object. It is indeed a PlayStation development kit, used for, as its name suggests, the development of video games and new Sony productions. This kit is of course intended for professionals only and is ubiquitous in one place in particular… PlayStation HQ.
The presence of this system would indeed indicate that Hideo Kojima would potentially be on the premises of PlayStation. In the center of the image is a chair, similar to those attributed to directors or actors on Hollywood sets. Meaning that, whatever the current project, Kojima plays a key role in it.
In the comments of the Tweet in question, many users are hoping a sequel to Death Stranding, the post-apocalyptic game that had met with huge success around the world. Maybe the project is on the way, who knows?
Kojima already with Xbox?
On the competition side, it would seem that Kojima is also on a project in collaboration with Xbox. Just like in the case of the potential collaboration between the director and PlayStation, nothing has yet been confirmed by the companies involved. However, according to many sources, a collaboration would be in progress. This is the case of Jeff Grub (the journalist) who, in his program Grubbsnaxrevealed that the cloud project between Xbox and Hideo Kojima would, at present, be “still relevant”.
In any case, Hideo Kojima now only has to confirm all these theories, or deny them. We will see what the director has in store for us and with which company(ies) he has chosen to work for his future projects. All this does not promise only positive, and Kojima fans will have plenty to worry about. What is certain is that he is currently working on a project “revolutionary”which should be released soon.
