PS5: A Playstation launcher with your games and trophies soon available on PC?

For some time, Games playstation land on PC. Players can thus find the company’s legendary licenses such as God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone or even more recently, Marvel’s Spider-Man. These are accessible to everyone, without having to connect a PSN account. At least for now…because a PlayStation launcher may soon be available on PC!

PSN on PC?

This discovery comes to us from several players having searched the files featured in PlayStation’s latest PC game, Marvel’s Spider-Man. According to them, Sony could consider allow PC gamers to link their PlayStation Network account to specific games and to offer in-game bonuses to reward them.

For the moment, no PlayStation games on PC have (explicitly) PSN-related elements, and that’s not the case in Marvel’s Spider-Man either. However, the game files contain folders titled “PSNAccountLinked”, “PSNLinkingEntitlements”or “PSN Linking bonuses”.

These could be simple experiences from Insomniac Games, but also real projects. the “PSN Linking bonuses” more particularly would lead to rewards would be given to players linking their PSN account to their PC game. Of course, all this has not yet been formalized by PlayStation and this information should therefore be taken with a grain of salt. But the idea of a PS launcher on PC wouldn’t be so crazy.

On the Sony FAQ foruma user asked if a PSN account was required in order to play PlayStation games on PC, to which the Japanese company replied: “No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studios games on PC”. A “currently” who came to sow doubt in the minds of the players…

Anyway, other PlayStation productions are coming to PC like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, or Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. It would therefore not be unimaginable to see a launcher bringing together all these games, and thus allowing players to have access to their entire PSN account. To be continued…
