Many were looking forward to it, the PS VR2 headset will arrive very soon to delight virtual reality enthusiasts who really want to immerse themselves in crazy video game adventures. But while PlayStation today announced a release date as well as the prices of the various PS VR2 packs, many players are already unhappy. In question, the prices of the addition to the next-gen console from Sony, which costs more than the latter!
A PS VR2 at a price… surprising
It was on November 2, 2022 that PlayStation announced the big news: the special next-gen virtual reality headset will see the light of day on February 22, 2023. With new additions such as eye-tracking (control and eye tracking), 3D audio, a ventilation system and an integrated motor, the PS VR2 is a real gem of technology. Like any precious object… it has a price.

As fans of PlayStation consoles will have noticed, the virtual reality headset is more expensive than the PS5, the version with Blu-ray disc player being priced at 549€. The Digital Edition of the next-gen console sells for €449.
The players are not unanimous
On networks, users are rather divided. Some point out that the PS VR2 is really worked and that it is not just an “accessory”, but a second console that complements the PS5 with ultra-developed technologies. For them, therefore, such a price is more than justified. Others, on the contrary, think that an addition of this type should not be more expensive than the console it targets. Most players still fear not to see so many games exclusive to PS VR2 but also that the price of these is so high.
However, the price is indeed fixed and pre-orders for Sony’s virtual reality headset but also for Horizon: Call of the Mountain will begin this month. More details are forthcoming from the PlayStation teams.
PlayStation seems to have made the decision to offer a more advanced product with new technologies, never seen on systems of its kind… but more expensive (logically). So if you want to enjoy your favorite next-gen video game productions in total immersion, you will have to put your hand in the wallet.
