The rumor grew following the disclosure of documents on the Moore’s Law is Dead YouTube channel. While the Internet took with a grain of salt what had been disclosed, it’s the turn of the often well-informed Thom Henderson of Insider Gaming to confirm what now looks like a leak: the PS5 Pro would be real, it would be very powerful, and it would arrive soon. Based on sources “wishing to remain anonymous” who would have sent various confidential documents, Insider Gaming confirms the technical specificities of the machine, which would bear the code name of “Trinity”.
“Insider Gaming (…) can also confirm that Devkits have been available for first-party studios since September 2023, for third-party studios since January 2024, and that from spring 2024, Testkits will also be available, and that they will be identical to the final product” can we read by here.
Impressive technical specifications
What do the information from the famous site tell us? Quite simply that the PS5 Pro would be much more powerful than the current PS5 and the Xbox Series. The machine would go up to 33.5 teraflops, for game rendering that would be 45% faster than that of the classic PS5. The calculation of Ray-tracing would be 2 to 3 times faster, while like Nvidia’s DLSS, Sony would inject its PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) to improve the upscaling and antialiasing of titles . An AI acceleration, supporting 300 TOPS of 8-bit calculation / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point, would also be included. Do you remember the “8K” sticker on the PS5 boxes? It should also be on the PS5 Pro box, since the console could allow the display of a resolution of up to 8K, we are assured.
Still according to Insider Gaming which published another article to provide new details, the PS5 Pro would be equipped with system memory with a bandwidth of 576 GB/s, compared to 448 GB/s for the original PS5, which would be an increase of 28%. If the processor would be identical to that of the PS5 Standard, the Pro version would have a “High CPU Frequency” which would push the processor to 3.85 GHz. The other technical details revealed simply show that developers should benefit from better performance whether for graphics rendering or audio rendering.. Finally, the PlayStation 5 Pro would have a removable disk identical to what we already know, and 1 TB of storage space.

A release date set for 2024?
According to Insider Gaming, the PlayStation 5 Pro would work with SDK 9.00, while SDK 10.00 would be expected for fall 2024… which would coincide with the machine’s planned release date. Tom Henderson predicts holiday 2024 release“but this date could be changed due to the lack of first party games releasing this year”, he writes.
Anyway, if these leaks are real and if Microsoft has nothing similar to offer, the PS5 Pro should be the best machine for playing GTA 6, the release date of which is still set at 2025. Until recently, analysts estimated that Rockstar’s title would be the most important game in history.
