If you’ve been waiting two years to finally be able to buy yourself a PS5, next year will surely be the one. Indeed, Sony has decided to work hard to end the shortage once and for all. Sony had warned us: 2022 would not be spared by the PS5 shortage. That being said, two years after its release, the situation has something to stay in the throat of the players, especially when the Xbox Series X, for its part, manages to overcome supply difficulties. While many are still waiting for the return of stocks, tension is mounting within the community, which does not fail to create controversy at the slightest spark.

To end this shortage, Sony has no choice: it must imperatively boost its production to finally meet demand. Last June, the milestone of 20 million sales passed, the firm had promised a significant increase in the offer, and, indeed, it seems that the latter is preparing to flood the market from the year 2023. According to the leaker Tom Henderson, no less than 30 million consoles should land in stores during this period.

2023, the year of the end of the shortage of PS5?

To do this, Sony would rely on the PS5 Slim which was talked about a few days ago. It is not yet very clear how this new model will allow the manufacturer to increase its production. On the other hand, it should give players more options in store, especially since if it is a cheaper model, it is a safe bet that many will finally be tempted after two years of waiting. .

One thing is certain, Sony really needs to settle this shortage problem definitively. If sales are far from disappointing, the firm takes the risk of widening a significant gap with Microsoft and its Xbox Series X, while attracting the wrath of players already unhappy with the situation. At the risk of turning into drama, it is therefore the future of the PS5 which will be at stake for the year 2023.
