Sony is eliminating a feature on the PS5. Apparently, players use this function too rarely, which is why it will soon be removed from the console.

  • A feature for the PS5 will soon no longer be available.
  • Previously, you could rate unknown players with awards.
  • However, Sony is expected to discontinue the Accolades function in autumn 2022.

A feature of the PS5 is threatened with deactivation because players do not seem to use it often enough. It’s the Accolades system, which allows you to award other players for their behavior after playing online games.

In practice, it has looked like this so far: If you encounter players in online titles who have made a particularly positive impression on you, you can mark them with “Helpful”, “Welcoming” or “Good Sport”.

But as Siliconera reports, Sony should discontinue this feature in autumn 2022. This is said to be due to a Japanese message from Sony, which stated that the feature was not used as the reason for the discontinuation.

It is not yet certain whether this will actually happen. There are more changes coming your way this year. We’ll tell you which new functions are currently in beta testing.
