The PlayStation 5 is quite large. This is partly due to the fact that a large fan is installed in it. However, a YouTuber insisted on turning the console into a slim version thanks to a trick.
PS5: YouTuber experiments with the console
There’s a lot of technology in the PlayStation 5 – and there’s a reason why it is quite big and heavy fails. Of course, it also takes up a lot of space.
It can be assumed that smaller models of the PS5 will appear over time. It was the same with the PS4. A good example of this is the Slim version, which is significantly smaller and slimmer. YouTube channel DIY Perks didn’t want to wait for Sony to announce this model for the next-gen console, and it’s not the first time the channel has experimented with the PlayStation 5 either.
Some time ago, for example, moderator Matt presented a mini version of the console, which he also gave a completely new, more classic look. What could Sony’s latest console look like as a slim model? That’s what he wanted to know and it was easy did the construction himself.

His model is only 2 cm high
In order to achieve his goal, Matt took drastic measures, not only requiring a soldering iron, a saw and a drill, he also used a small oven.
His console is made of copper plates, is waterproof and has the technology it needs – well at least some of it, because he does cheat a bit. He uses water cooling for his slim model, which is not built in, but instead housed in an external box is. According to Matt, you can easily store it on the wall and behind the TV.
Besides the looks of the console, there is another important point: Does it work? Lets say it like this. For starters, Matt struggled with hiccups.
After he turned on the console and played Astro’s Playroom to test it, the game suddenly froze. He found that his cooling system design tipped over during gaming and the system quickly heated up. After this faux pas, the console would no longer turn on. He skillfully solved this problem by swapping the PS5 motherboard for another one and lo and behold, after that his slim model didn’t cause any more problems even after several hours of Horizon Forbidden West.
