At the end of last week, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the possibility of finally using Discord directly from the PS5 for voice chat without having to use another device (PC, mobile), it’s about time! The blog article reporting the news then specified that this new feature would be rolled out gradually across the world over the weeks. Well, in recent hours, France has been entitled to it since the firmware 24.04-09.40.00 has been downloaded to our console. According to changelog official, it weighs around 1.2 GB. In addition to this reinforced integration, security has been strengthened in terms of parental controls since children have access to the service and the most recent headsets PULSE are also entitled to some adjustments.
To avoid changing, you will find details of the new features below:
- From now on, Child accounts have the ability to link and add third-party apps and services to their account for PlayStation Network. They can thus benefit from advantages and features to improve their gaming experience.
- Younger gamers using child accounts on PS5 can link their accounts to use features like Discord voice chat, streaming music with Apple Music and Spotify, and streaming and sharing gameplay on YouTube and Twitch.
- New parental controls are available for parents and guardians. It allows you to manage the links of their child’s account with third-party applications and services. Availability may vary depending on age, parental control settings and country/region.
- You can now Launch or join a Discord voice chat on your PS5. Open Game Base in Control Center, then select the Discord tab to access your servers and direct calls.
- We have updated the software for the PULSE Elite Wireless Headset, PULSE Explore Wireless Headphones, and PlayStation Link USB Adapter.
- PlayStation Link connection stability has been improved.
- We fixed an issue with the PULSE Elite Wireless Headset that caused the power to turn off when the audio cable was connected to the audio input jack.
- On the PULSE Elite Wireless Headset, the status indicator that lights up once the PlayStation Link connection is established is now dimmed.
- We have improved the performance and stability of the system software.
- We have improved the messages and the ergonomics of certain screens.
