Thing promised, thing due. sony had announced that it was working on VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) compatibility for the PS5, technology announced since the launch of its console. After several tests, the VRR will finally arrive on the machine, starting this weekwhich is an opportunity to find out which will be the first games compatible with this feature.
A first list of compatible PS5 games
If we have no precise date to put in our mouths, Sony announces on its PlayStation Blog that VRR is coming to PS5 this week worldwide. As a reminder, this technology requires VRR and HDMI 2.1 compatible televisions, and improves the visual performance of games (which have received a patch or which are directly compatible) by avoiding problems such as screen tearing.
If future games will eventually all be more or less compatible with VRR, titles already released require a patch for VRR. Here is a first list of PS5 games that will receive a VRR patch in the coming weeks :

- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

- Destiny 2
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
- DIRT 5
- Godfall
- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil Village
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Tribes of Midgard
Many other games will benefit from this compatibility over the weeks, and in the coming days, we should see more and more studios announcing a VRR patch, starting, logically, with the PlayStation Studios exclusives already released.
To ensure that VRR is enabled on your console, you will have to go to the PS5 settings, in the “Screen and video” section. It will then be possible to apply it to games that have not yet received a patch, which may improve the visual quality of some games, but not as much as with a suitable patch (and this may also cause problems on some securities).
