Numerous PS5 gamer accounts are currently being blocked, apparently for no reason. Those affected express their displeasure on X. Some even suspect a new hacker attack.
- Many PlayStation users complain that their PSN account is blocked.
- There are apparently no understandable reasons for the closures. Those affected claim that they have done nothing bad.
- Some players suspect that a hacker attack is behind it.
Maybe you just bought a new PS5 for Black Friday, created a PlayStation Network account and just a few days later Sony blocks you for seemingly no reason. Since the beginning of December, there have been increasing reports from players on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit who are struggling with just such a ban.
Sony typically only suspends accounts of players who violate the terms of service. This includes hostility, threats or attempts to cheat while playing. However, the players affected by the current wave of bans claim to have done nothing illegal. According to their own statements, they were blocked for no reason.
The biggest problem is that Sony usually doesn’t give owners of blocked accounts a way to understand the reason for the ban. It hit X user Michael Dhaliwal on December 4th without warning and he doesn’t know why.
Many players express incomprehension about account suspensions
A Reddit post from user “BO-DACIOUS55” even shows a screenshot of the ban, which indicates a violation of the PlayStation Terms of Service. He himself cannot explain the account blocking. The post has now garnered over 400 responses, including numerous contributions from users describing similar experiences.
Some of the Reddit users like “Dangerous_Raccoon168” believe that a hacker attack could be the reason for the account suspensions. That would mean that players would even have to fear for their data. We remember: A few months ago, a hacker collective claimed to have stolen data from Sony. So far, however, this is pure speculation.
One thing is certain: it is very unusual that so many users suddenly report being unjustifiedly excluded from PSN. The reason for all the closures remains unclear. The US technology website The Verge states that Sony has not yet commented on the case.
If you now fear that your PSN account might suffer a similar fate, you can try changing your password. If necessary, you may prevent your account from being blocked – if it is actually a hacker attack.
