PS5: Western Media launches its first M.2 SSD under official PlayStation license

The PlayStation 5 offers basic storage with around 600 GB of free space, which means that the console is filling up fastespecially if you are subscribed to the new service of the Playstation Plus. An update, however, has enabled an additional storage port for add an M.2 SSD as desiredand Western Digital jumped at the chance.

The manufacturer announces a partnership with sony to offer its first officially licensed M.2 SSD for PS5. The WD_Black SN850 NVMe M.2 SSD is available with 1 or 2 TB of storageideal for downloading or installing a bunch of recent games at the same time on your home console. Western Digital indicates that the disc has been submitted to rigorous testing to ensure speed, fluidity and optimal graphic qualitywhich recalls Susan Park, vice president of consumer solutions product management at WD :

the WD_BLACK SN850 SSD for PS5 obviously allows to store PS4 games in the latest console of sonyand features an all-in-one heatsink for simple installation, and the manufacturer promises read speed up to 7000 MB/s thanks to PCIe Gen4.

the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe M.2 SSD is already available on the shop of Western Digital as a temporary exclusive, it will arrive at the usual retailers in mid-August. Count €219.99 for the 1TB model and €329.99 for the one with 2TB of storage. You can find other M.2 SSDs on Amazon.
