PSG nervous, Angers finally victorious, Andy Delort in weightlessness

  • The bad gesture of the weekend: Presnel Kimpembe lost his nerves

If the Parisian leader won again on Saturday, against Brest, the three points were acquired in pain. Brest should even have come back level with the capital’s players, if Islam Slimani had converted his shot on goal (71e), diverted by the firm hand of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

This penalty was conceded by Presnel Kimpembe, taken aback by the dribbling of the twirling Noah Fadiga. Already warned, the 2018 world champion defender will commit a new fault at the very end of the game, catching Irvin Cardona’s shin guard with a nasty tackle along the sideline (91e), facing the Brest bench, and a mad Michel Der Zakarian.

The noh 3 Parisians will not, however, be awarded a second card synonymous with expulsion. He will not be penalized either when, with a closed face and an aggressive eye, he curtly pushes aside the arm of referee Jérôme Pignard a few moments later, who has come to separate the player from several reassembled Brestois.

However, the Parisian did not come out of the game unscathed. Holding his left thigh just after his contentious tackle, the defender suffered a hamstring injury. He is forfeited for the next trip to Haifa (Israel) in the Champions League on September 14. He could also miss the next gathering of the France team and the matches against Austria on September 22 and Denmark on September 25.

  • The goal of the weekend: Andy Delort ensures the air show

Known for the prominence of his calves and the power of his strikes, Andy Delort from Nice also knows how to make the powder speak in an acrobatic way. Ajaccio learned this the hard way on Sunday 11 September. The striker scored the winning goal with a superb sequence, back to goal, chest control, followed by a bicycle into the box, leaving no chance for the island goalkeeper, Benjamin Leroy.

This goal brings three precious points to the Azureans, in bad shape and which go back temporarily to the 12e square. Still without the slightest victory, the Ajacciens bring up the rear in the standings, with another defeat – the sixth in seven matches. Passed by Ajaccio between 2010 and 2013, Andy Delort had the delicacy not to celebrate his achievement which hurt his former club very badly.

Before the kick-off of this seventh day, only three formations had not yet tasted the joys of a victory in the league this season. There are now only two left, Ajaccio and Strasbourg, since Angers overcame Montpellier (2-1) at home on Sunday.

Led very early in the game (7e), Gérald Baticle’s players managed to turn the tide, with the winning goal scored by Sofiane Boufal from the penalty spot (67e). The Angevins remain 19arebut return to Brest (18e) and Strasbourg (17e) with 5 dots.

Last recruit of the summer transfer window of Lorient, Yoann Cathline had no time to waste. For his first match in the top flight, the defector from Forward Guingamp in Ligue 2 only needed three minutes to write the first line of his statistics sheet at the highest level. Entered at 57e minute, the 20-year-old striker restored the advantage to his team, scoring the 2-1 goal against Nantes.

Bought for 2.7 million euros, the French international under 20 could not have dreamed of a better baptism of fire in front of the public at Moustoir. Finally victorious three goals to two, the seductive Merlus of Régis Le Bris point to a beautiful 4e place, with only one loss in seven outings.

This is the number of points scored by Olympique de Marseille in seven league matches, out of a possible 21. This is the best total in the history of the Olympian club, founded in 1899, at this stage of the season in Ligue 1.

“If it was us, we’re out. But this is Paris. This makes me angry. »

Michel Der Zakarian started more than three hundred matches on a Ligue 1 bench. The Stade Brestois technician knows it better than anyone: his team could have left Paris with something other than the narrow defeat conceded at the Parc des Princes (1- 0). And to the frustration of the scenario was added the feeling of injustice when the Franco-Armenian witnessed the very ugly tackle of Presnel Kimpembe on his player Irvin Cardona at the end of the game. A gesture of anti-game which did not earn a second yellow card synonymous with expulsion for the international tricolor (28 selections).

If he recognizes that the Parisian defender “do not make an attack”“MDZ” would still have liked to see the captain of PSG receive a second yellow. “Everyone heard the noise and the linesman didn’t even signal a foul. He must take a card, at least a yellow one. If he takes yellow, he is out because he had already taken one. If it was us, we’re out. But this is Paris. It makes me angry,” considers the Finistère coach, whose team is, on the evening of the seventh day, stuck in the red zone, at the 18e square.

  • The decisive pass of the weekend: Steve Mandanda takes part in the Rennes triumph

Little worried by the Auxerrois on Sunday afternoon, Steve Mandanda was not decisive with his saves but with an assist. On a long clearance, the goalkeeper saw Flavien Tait go like an arrow forward and managed to address the ball to him perfectly. The midfielder controlled it and avoided a hazardous exit from Benoît Costil to push the ball into the back of the net and score Rennes’ fourth goal.

It is not the first time in his career that the French goalkeeper has made an assist, since he had already achieved this performance in the knockout stages of the Champions League with Marseille against Inter Milan in 2012. He participated in this time to the big victory of Stade Rennes (5-0), which on the other hand certainly lost its precious midfielder, Baptiste Santamaria, for several weeks, released on a stretcher after an impressive twist of his ankle.
