PSVR 2: Demeo and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition announced on Sony’s future headset

As expected, sony mentioned his PlayStation VR 2 during the State of Play from this evening. But there is reason to be disappointed: the manufacturer did not dwell on the helmet, but only on two games that will be available on PSVR 2but not necessarily from its launch early next year.

Well, these are two already known titles. The first is Demeo, a role-playing game dungeon crawler playable up to four players in cooperation and which was entitled to its trailer (but not its release period) on PS5 with the PSVR 2, you can find it above. Gustav Stenmark, producer at Resolution Games, adds:

Do you miss board game nights? It’s a Friday night. You have just opened your bag of crisps. Your friend looks at you across the table and waits impatiently for your two other buddies, who arrived late, to pull their character sheets out of their bags and find their dice. The tension is growing. The board is ready. You are about to embark on the greatest adventure the world has ever known.

There’s something really special about gathering around a table for a role-playing game with friends and as a VR studio full of seasoned gamers, even including well-known creators in the multiplayer games such as Mike Booth (Left 4 Dead) and Tom Hall (Doom), we asked ourselves a question: how to recreate the magic of this moment in an immersive experience that not only captures the game experience, but also the sensation to be around a table with his friends casting spells and slicing monsters?

Our answer to this question: Demeo. An award-winning VR experience (also available non-VR) enriched since its release last year with new heroes, new adventures and much more. And today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re bringing Demeo to PlayStation VR 2 and PlayStation 5 in 2023 with a host of exciting features that will make this game one of the best ways to experience Demeo until here.

Haptic feedback from the PlayStation 5 PSVR 2 Sense gamepad, headset and DualSense wireless gamepad will play a part in immersing the player in Demeo like never before… and it won’t just be for those big moments where you get pushed around by a fireball or some other attack spell like that. Imagine feeling different weights in each hand as you grab game pieces with your PSVR 2 Sense gamepad. This is the level of depth that we seek to capture with our implementation of haptics.

The visual fidelity on PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2 has given us every reason to revisit our graphics and take advantage of what’s possible on PlayStation hardware. If you thought heroes and monsters looked intimidating before, wait until you see them with our new color charts! Refresh rate is a crucial part of creating a comfortable viewing experience and that’s why we’re excited to be able to use PSVR 2’s 120Hz refresh rate.

Thanks to the hardware’s eye-tracking capabilities, we’re also able to bring some magic to our menus: PSVR 2 players will be able to make selections in Demeo’s menus simply by blinking their eyes. It’s a surprisingly fast experience that sends you into your next game in a flash.

When Demeo hits the PlayStation Store, the game will be available to players who have already dipped into the virtual realm as well as those who haven’t yet, but that doesn’t mean that PlayStation players who want to experience the two experiences will have to buy it twice. You will be able to enjoy Demeo on PSVR 2 and PlayStation 5 with a single purchase, giving you the opportunity to start each adventure on the platform of your choice. Whether it’s a lazy day on the couch or a more energetic day with your adventurous friends and VR, we’ve got you covered.

What if you want to play Demeo with your friends, but they’re not on PlayStation hardware? No problem ! Thanks to Sony’s continued development support, Demeo players on PS5 and PSVR 2 will be able to share their sessions with their friends regardless of their preferred platform.

Over the past few years, we’ve had a lot of fun gathering around the virtual table with our friends to roll dice, play cards and move our minis, and we’re excited to welcome the entire PlayStation community among us in 2023!

The other game is Star Wars: Tales From Galaxy’s Edgean action-adventure game originally designed for Meta Quest and who is going to be covered PSVR 2 next year in a Enhanced Edition. The upgrades aren’t known yet, but here’s the trailer, and a statement from Scott Mayer of ILMxLAB :

Journey to a galaxy far, far away on PlayStation VR 2 in Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition, starting in 2023. This award-winning VR experience from Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB has been redesigned to take advantage of technological improvements the hardware can offer today and we’re excited to share with you what you may see and feel as you escape to the galaxy’s frontiers.

A complete experience

Your story begins as you repair droids. After a crash on the planet Batuu caused by an attack by the Guavian gang, you get carried away on a great adventure. Extraordinary events will then follow, proving that anyone in the galaxy can become a hero.

As you experience your own unforgettable Star Wars adventure, your favorite characters will join you like R2-D2, C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), Jedi Master Yoda (Franz Oz) and Hondo Ohnaka (Jim Cummings). You’ll also face new characters such as energetic bartender Seezelslak (Bobby Moynihan), treasure hunter Lens Kamo (Karla Crome), and Guavian gang leader Tara Rashin (Debra Wilson).

During your adventure, you will spend a lot of time in the cantina of Seezelslak with the bartender azumel who will transport you to other places and times of the Star Wars galaxy through his legendary tales. Thanks to him, you will live the story of the padawan turned Jedi, Ady Sun’Zee (Ellie Araiza) in the “Temple of Darkness” and the “Sacred Garden”. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a droid, then you’ll find your answer on a bizarre hunt where you play as Class IV assassin droid, IG-88 (Rhys Darby) in ‘The Bounty of Boggs Triff’. (Boggs Triff’s Bounty).

Even more immersive

Primarily anchored on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, an immersive and epic experience is coming to Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to complement and transcend physical park boundaries. You’ll meet familiar characters such as the owner of the Black Spire Outpost droid depot, Mubo (Matthew Wood), who will give you access to new gear and items during your adventure, and the character that the fans love, Dok-Ondar (Cory Rouse).

Using all the technology PSVR 2 has to offer, the game pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with VR to transport you to the Star Wars universe like never before. The high-fidelity visual experience will include headset-based controller tracking and eye movement tracking to ensure that your movements and the direction you are looking are reflected in-game.

Audio and haptics also play a major role in this experience, and the soundscape will envelop you in rich 3D audio while feeling even the smallest details thanks to the haptics built into the PSVR 2 Sense gamepad and the helmet. Combining all the sensory features PSVR 2 has to offer, you’ll feel like you’re living in the Star Wars galaxy.
