Does virtual reality horror already take you to the guts? So it’s nothing compared to what awaits you in the next generation of games PSVR. Fasten your seat belts and above all, avoid blinking too much!
The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR sends you on the tracks of a giant virtual reality ghost train. You are sitting in a mine wagon going through various horror scenarios. Until there, nothing extraordinary, you will tell us! But that’s without counting on the specificity (in the world of consoles) of the PSVR 2 : eye tracking (or Eye Tracking).
Remember, the game discussed here has been delayed to next month (see article) and it may well be that Supermassive Games needs more time to adapt its many jump scares to said technology. Alejandro Arqué Gallardo, game director, announces that there are scenes in which players are not allowed to blink. If they do, it will have a disruptive effect on the environmentlike mannequins suddenly changing position, enemies approaching you with every blink of an eye, etc.
THE YouTuber shows how scary it is and luckily the player is not completely defenseless and can fend off the attack of enemies with the help of guns. Mike Cussel, who lived the experience, said in particular:
I have to say it’s beautiful. It’s horrifying, but it’s beautiful. OLED screens make everything so dark it’s truly terrifying. It’s like being in a theme park, only much longer and much scarier.
I felt like I should have worn a heart rate sensor. You will feel your heart racing. Oh man, it’s only one level, this game is huge. There are tons of levels branching out for you to play over and over again.
