Some behaviors seem so unimportant that we tend to overlook them. Even these seemingly small things can tell us a lot about a person’s character.

Are you one of those people who love watching people? Who can sit on a bench or in a café in the city for hours and just watch what goes on? Then you definitely have a good understanding of people, which you continue to refine with your keen observation and comprehension skills.

There are some behaviors and habits that say a lot about a person’s personality – without us knowing much about them. These supposed little things include the following.

1. Punctuality

There are basically people who find it easier to estimate time correctly and therefore be on time, and there are those who don’t do it so well. But with all understanding for the latter: Anyone who still shows up late for every meeting and every appointment is simply not trying hard enough. And that is usually because such people find themselves and their time more important than that of their counterparts. Most of us are late sometimes and therefore certainly understand if someone else is unpunctual from time to time. But if you really don’t care about keeping others waiting, you’re probably pretty selfish in other areas of your life too.

2. Sorry

Whether and how people admit to themselves and others that they have done something wrong is also very meaningful. Being able to apologize at all is an important skill and shows a certain level of mental and emotional maturity. If someone then manages to come up with a genuine apology without “I’m sorry, but YOU also have…” or similar restrictions, then that speaks for the person’s character.

3. Dealing with service personnel

All people are worth the same – and therefore deserve the same amount of respect, regardless of their job, their financial situation, their origin, skin color, religion and so on. How someone treats their fellow human beings therefore reveals a lot. Dealing with service staff, such as waiters, receptionists or sales staff, is often particularly significant. Certain people feel superior to others, especially when they may have more money and a seemingly more important job than the person serving them food in the restaurant. If they treat them condescendingly, don’t look at them, don’t say thank you, that suggests quite a bit of an ego problem.

4. Behavior in a group

How a person behaves within a group can be just as exciting and revealing. Basically, of course, there are more extroverted and more introverted people. The former often thrive in situations with many people, while the latter are often quickly overwhelmed. But beyond that, others can also be done Observe behavior, such as whether someone constantly takes over the floor or tends to let others go first. Or whether one person is trying to include everyone in the conversation so that no one feels left out. This is a good way to tell how empathetic and thoughtful someone is.
