PUBG back on top with free-to-play transition

Since January 12, PUBG, one of the most popular battle royale, is available free-to-play, either on PC or console. As expected, many curious people wanted to discover the experience, allowing the game released almost five years ago to see its number of simultaneous users increase. It practically doubled in the space of two days, which is a good sign for the developers.

Indeed, while the peak of players was 363,000 in December, it reached, on January 12, in the wake of the free availability of PUBG, 667,000 simultaneous users (via Steam Charts). Knowing that we are in the middle of the week, this first weekend could bring together even more people on the battlefields, anxious to open up to a new experience, very different from Apex Legends or Fortnite, its two main competitors.

Thanks to these figures, PUBG is therefore replacing itself among the most popular games on the Steam platform., just behind CSGO and in the fight with DOTA 2. Moreover, this performance, the sixth best of PUBG since its release, would place the battle royale in the sixth place of the best performances for a game on Steam, whose ranking is dominated through… PUBG, with its 3,236,000 simultaneous players in January 2018, a period when the battle royale marched on water.

In all cases, whether the community grows or not, further updates are planned in the coming months, with, normally, a new card, size 8×8, the same as Erangel, Miramar and Taego.
