PUBG: Battlegrounds, player numbers explode thanks to free-to-play

During the ceremony of Game Awards 2021, Krafton announced that PUBG: Battlegrounds would go live free-to-play. It is now done, the Battle royale realistic is now playable for free on computers and consoles, and of course, it attracts the curious.

These last weeks, PUBG: Battlegrounds attracted around 350,000 players simultaneously on Steam, according to the figures of SteamDB. Well, they were 668,000 yesterday to have fun at the same time on the Battle royale, attendance which has almost doubled thanks to the switch to free-to-play. A nice resurgence in popularity for a title that constantly battles with the competition, but which still has the attendance record on Steam, with more than three million players simultaneously when it was launched in version 1.0 at the end of 2019.

We will now have to wait to see if this figure stabilizes, and if Krafton finds its account there. While the game is free, players can spend money on cosmetic items. Finally, a problem arises after this passenger in free-to-play : cheaters are more and more numerous and players who have paid a high price for the title feel cheated, ratings are dropping on Steam… One last point, a bit of a bad time, many Internet users saying they were disappointed have already had thousands of hours of fun on the game for nearly five years. You can find a figurine Pop! from Lone Survivor at € 12.99 on Amazon.
