Pull Through Braid: This is how the hairstyle trend succeeds

It looks like it is braided – but in reality it is a completely different technique! The Pull Through Braid doesn't require nearly as much concentration as a complicated braided hairstyle – but it makes just as much! Find out how to style the trendy braid here!

This is how the Pull Through Braid works

You need:

Lots of thin elastic bands

  • The longer the hair, the more braid elastic you will need
  • If you want the elastic bands to remain invisible, use clear ones

That's how it's done:

  1. Preparations: Depending on your preference, you can tease the hair at the roots a little beforehand and fix it with hairspray, or you can comb it back strictly.
  2. Gather the top hair at the back of your head in a braid and secure it with a hair tie. Lay the braid forward, if necessary use a large hair clip to hold it in place for a short time.
  3. Bring two strands together from the sides at the back of your head and secure them with a hair tie, a few inches below the first braid.
  4. Then grab the upper braid again, divide it in the middle into two equal-sized strands and place the lower braid over the divided upper one (pin it to the front if necessary). Now grab two strands again from both sides and use the split braid to form a new ponytail.
  5. Then repeat the steps: Divide the top braid into two strands, place the bottom one over it and combine the split strands with more hair from both sides into a new braid. You go on like this until you reach the neck.
  6. From the nape of the neck you simply continue with the principle: gather the lower hairs on the back of the neck into a pigtail, part the last remaining strand of the back of the head and place the strand of the neck over it. The divided strand is now combined into a new braid and the upper part is divided again, etc.
  7. At the end, the divided strands are pulled apart with the fingers on the sides so that the pull through braid gets volume.
  8. Secure the end of your pull through braid with a wide hair tie. Finished!
