Pulled out a screwdriver – use in St. Stephen’s Cathedral: employees threatened

Vienna police forces were alerted to St. Stephen’s Cathedral on Monday morning. A man (29) is said to have threatened two employees – both 34 years old – with a screwdriver in the church. The suspect was caught at Stephansplatz.

One of the two employees of the church facility had noticed the man the day before. He is said to have disrupted a holy mass on Sunday. Caught by the executive at Stephansplatz. On Monday morning, the troublemaker finally returned to St. Stephen’s Cathedral and suddenly pulled out a screwdriver. He is said to have used the tool to “slit the throats” of the guards. After one of the two called the police, the 29-year-old finally fled – but was caught at Stephansplatz. Couldn’t be interviewed yet “The motive is still unclear. An interrogation has not yet been possible due to the aggressive behavior of the accused,” said the state police headquarters on Tuesday. He was taken to the prison.
